Prevent, Find, Link and Retain: The Essential Role of OVC Programming in HIV Epidemic Control

As PEPFAR enters its 16th year, this event celebrates the accomplishments of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) programs to contribute to the global 95-95-95 targets as well as support HIV prevention and mitigation. By mobilizing and engaging both health and social welfare systems, OVC programs have been pivotal to the success of HIV testing and treatment outcomes as well as addressing community systems and norms, the structural drivers of the epidemic, and preventing and responding to violence against children.  The conference will highlight new priorities for OVC programs, best practices from current programs and discussion of challenges and approaches to ensuring the well-being of children and families living with and effected by HIV. Breakout working sessions will focus on how we can be more effective in our work and how we can advance HIV priorities related to OVC and DREAMS programming such as identifying asymptomatic HIV positive children and reducing violence against children, especially girls.
