In addition, this role will liaise with the CSV Solutions Hub team members to ensure that events, products, and other activities are disseminated or implemented effectively.

With over 9000 members the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) is the largest global network for advancing research on violence against women (Violence against Women), violence against children (VAC) and other forms of violence driven by gender inequality. The SVRI brings together a diverse group of actors aiming to achieve a world free of violence against women and violence against children through innovative responses and prevention programmes informed by evidence, with a focus on low and middle-income countries (LMIC).

The SVRI is a not for profit network for researchers, practitioners, activists, funders and others in our community to share, learn and connect. Our work clusters around four pillars: Building evidence; strengthening capacity; promoting partnerships; and, influencing change to ensure policy and programmes are evidence informed, sustainable at scale and rooted in strategic partnerships that will drive action at local levels.  All work undertaken and supported by SVRI strives to be feminist-centred, rights-based, innovative, collaborative, equitable and held to the highest ethical standards.

The SVRI is a core partner in a joint project called the Childhood Sexual Violence Solutions Hub (CSV Solutions Hub). This Hub is in its inception year and aims to build a dynamic, practitioner-centred platform to build, transform and mobilise knowledge to end childhood sexual violence globally. We are currently seeking an individual to join our team to support the administration and coordination needs of the organisation, particularly in relation to this new project.

Purpose of the Role

The Knowledge Coordinator will support the Administration and Knowledge Manager with tasks related to day to day administration needs, membership management, social media posts, website management, and coordinating the production of online events for SVRI. In addition, this role will liaise with the CSV Solutions Hub team members to ensure that events, products, and other activities are disseminated or implemented effectively. This role reports to the CSV Lead, offering support to the global network and particularly to SVRI’s role in the Childhood Sexual Violence Solutions Hub.

Role Requirements

Administration

  • To plan, coordinate, and produce SVRI and CSV Solutions Hub meetings and online events including managing registrations, agendas, notes/minutes, recordings, etc.
  • Create and disseminate surveys on Survey Monkey to seek feedback on activities and events, thereafter analyse and write up results for feedback from Programmes Technical Specialist (CSV Lead)
  • Offer support to the Administration and Knowledge Manager.
  • Offer support to the CSV Solutions Hub team particularly around coordination of knowledge events and knowledge products dissemination.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of a CSV Solutions Hub partners and members database.
  • Assist in compiling reports to donors.

Knowledge Management

  • Support maintenance of SVRI knowledge management system; update and maintain SVRI materials and resources.
  • Support the creation of CSV Solutions Hub knowledge management system.
  • Ensure relevant partner and member publications, materials and products are disseminated via SVRI Update, website and social media platforms as well as CSV Solutions Hub channels as relevant and appropriate.
  • Support management of social media networking platforms.
  • Support with collating and analysing social media and website statistics and regularly report on trends and movement on all platforms.
  • Support preparation monthly reports on SVRI and CSV Solutions Hub activities.
  • Support website maintenance.

Required Education: 

  • First level degree (Bachelor) in knowledge management, communications and media studies, international relations, development studies or related discipline.

Required experience: 

  • At least three years’ experience in an Administration or Coordination role.
  • Experience in producing and coordinating online events via online platforms such as Zoom, Teams etc.
  • Knowledge management experience (an advantage if related to research and evidence building).
  • Social media management is ideal, but exposure and knowledge of working on various platforms is acceptable.
  • Due to the sensitivity of the content exposed in the role, a preference to any candidate exposed to development and / or philanthropic related working experience will be highly recommended
  • Ability to curate; sort, organize, and structure content so that it is as accessible to the SVRI network.
  • Emotionally mature and self-aware.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Excellent planning and organising skills with high level of attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, basic website development/maintenance, and online communications (e.g, Zoom, Slack, Teams, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.

Required Language:

  • Fluency in English is required.

Location:

This position can be remote, with required travel to in-person meetings to fulfil the duties of the position as listed above. Office space is available in Pretoria should the candidate prefer to work on site. Preference will be given to candidates living in low or middle income countries.

Salary Range:

Annual earning will be market related and will depend on experience and expertise. If based in South Africa, the successful applicant will be paid in South African Rand.
